When I first watch the first edition of Alien VS Predator (AVP – 2004), I feel that it might be quite interesting as Alien VS Predator rather than only Aliens in Alien movies or only Predators in Predator movies. And the most interesting thing is the slogan; Whoever wins… We lose. But the ending is that both Predator and mankind wins as it seems that Predator and mankind cooperate to kill Aliens. So, it’s kind of conflicting with the slogan. In order to provide a lead to AVPR, an alien is ‘deployed’ in the dead predator which is carried back to the Predators’ planet.
AVPR starts with the Alien, bursting out from the dead Predator’s stomach and in split seconds, it becomes a grown-up Alien and starts killing Predators. The Alien then go into an airship and kill the pilot Predator while the airship is going to take off. The airship crash land to the Earth and the Alien starts to breed.
Surprisingly, only one Predator is sent to the Earth to fight the high-breeding rates of Aliens. When the Predator finds a clue, it will destroy it by pouring a blue liquid that works like acid. However, it will not destroy the body of humans it killed.
As the Predator searches for Aliens, there are scenes of people searching for clues and missing persons who are actually killed by either the Aliens or the Predator and scenes of people fighting over a girl. I think the scenes are quite boring and they are not brought in as part of the movie interestingly enough. Thus, it is like one moment, Predator is fighting Aliens and the next moment is the boring scenes of humans talking and talking. No surprises and no excitements.
The war between Predator and Aliens ends when the national security instructed the residents to gather at the town centre and assured them of an airlift which will be taken place. Small group of people is not convinced and headed out of town. Instead of an airlift, an air strike is deployed and the town is destroyed together with the people. The only survivors are that small group of people.
Overall, it’s boring and why would the Predator remove its automatic laser gun, which sits nicely on the shoulder, and uses it as a hand gun? There seems to be just a fight between Predator and Aliens. There are no purposes to achieve anything, no missions and humans are somehow an empty vase in the movie.
The pictures described the weather this week. It’s kind of terrible and I was almost blown away by the strong wind while I was walking to the college this morning. Now, it is bright and sunny. Who knows that rain might follow in the next hour.
I have been looking for ways to bring in more traffic to my site by registering my site URL to Google and other blog listing sites. So far, so good. I am not very clear with the whole process, though. I might post relevant ideas and ways of promoting website later on, or until I am quite clear with what is needed to be done correctly.
I just had two mandatory training this week; Performance and Development Review training and Student Code of Conduct training. The first was not really useful because I am still in my probation period. And the company where I worked previously has the more comprehensive review structure. The latter, taught us on how to deal with students who break the rules.
Tomorrow, I will have to wake up early because I am going for training at Capita office. But this time, I will be going together with my colleague. Hopefully, it will be fun. I am wondering what we can talk about while we are in the train.
Today is my 2nd bro’s birthday. Therefore, I would like to wish him HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
I tried sending him text messages during Chinese New Year but he didn’t seem to receive any of it. So, I think it’s better not to send him text messages. Hopefully, he visits myi4u frequently.
My sis reached our rented place at 1645 on Saturday. Mee was still working but she finished at 1900 that day. At about 1830, I drove my sister car to fetch Mee but we didn’t eat out. Instead we had instant noodles with Wan Tan, bought from Wing Yip. My sis brought us a lot of stuffs and the one which I had been waiting for was the storage box. Other than that, food and food and food. Our fridge is stuffed with food and food and food; even the kitchen drawers and room. It’s seems like we are storing for winter, so you can imagine how much there are.
I watched X-Men 2 and was playing Prostreet when my sis reached. The game was smooth when I played the practice session at first and what I had thought was the game would slow down when I started to race with other cars as rendering more cars would stress my system. However, it turned out that I was wrong. I was still able to play the game smoothly. Overall, I would prefer Prostreet to Carbon.
As I mentioned previously, the handling of Prostreet is much more precise and each tuning and upgrade affects the car performance and handling. Thus, the tuning really plays an important role if you want to win matches. On the other hand, Most Wanted and Carbon only depend on upgrades where tuning does not affect much on each races.
Another thing is that Prostreet awarded me with free repairs for having previous edition of Need for Speed.
After having our instant
noodle dinner, we watched Alien VS Predator – Requiem (AVPR). Hmm… I will write
my own point of view later on but overall, AVPR is not something new and it’s
boring to watch.
Sunday came and we had our breakfast in the dining area and we chatted happily for about half an hour. We then set off to Asda and before that, I drove past my workplace as my sis had never known where I worked. We had our dinner at MayFlower Chinese Restaurant. Coincidentally, buffet is only available on Sunday and cost £13.90 per person. We spent about £48 and were quite satisfied with the food except the service. We felt that the service was slow and the waitresses were not friendly.
After my sis went home, Mee and I started tidying the room and the storage box was put into good use. The room certainly looks better now and hopefully, we could maintain it for some time.
The weather is bad as described in Metro last week. It has been raining on and off since Sunday night and the wind is strong. Luckily, it didn’t rain heavily while I was walking to my workplace.
I had been following Liverpool progress recently by logging in to Liverpool website during the matches with Bolton, West Ham and Newcastle. I would refresh my browser once a while to see if there is any scoring. Amazingly, they scored and scored. It’s glad to see their progress and scoring ability and I have started to admire Torres and Gerrard. Hopefully, they will be able to keep their form and win all the way to the end of the season instead of being regarded as an inconsistent team or the team which needed some luck to win.
Last but not least, I am
using the new Kingston
4GB DataTraveler Mini – Migo Edition. It’s really mini and half the size of the
Sandisk Micro Cruzer but thicker. My Sandisk Micro Cruzer is now being used as
Vista ReadyBoost because this Kingston is
categorized as not compatible by Vista.
Furthermore, it’s thick and it will block the access to another USB port at the
front panel.
Imagine how hot it is today. Office windows are opened, and both fan and air-con are switched on. It’s funny that it just rained in the morning. Metro newspaper stated that there will be strongest storm next week where most of the days’ morning will be raining and wind will be strong enough to damage properties and trees. Scary, isn’t it?
I just had some issues importing some of my previous postings to Flatpress. There seem to be some syntax which is not acceptable in Flatpress and it totally corrupted the contents. Well, it’s not that serious as I described but initially, I just had a scare because I couldn’t view a single entry in admin mode. The main page only showed my banner and nothing else. I was like preparing for the worse which is to reinstall Flatpress and copy all the entries again.
On second thought, what if this happen again? Twice, thrice or more. I would have a hard time if I couldn’t manage simple stuff like that. Thus, I just run through the folders, replacing files which I modified, copy here and paste there. Finally, I found out that it’s just occurred in my latest entry which I had made. Once deleted, my blog went normal. I tried adding in again and everything turned sour again.
Again, I carefully examined the content of the entry and just because of one symbol appeared in the context, my blog came to a standstill. Fortunately, it’s not the problem with Flatpress instability. It’s just that I will have to be more careful with symbols. At least now, I will be able to identify problems that might happen as I progress.
I am left with the last task which is due today. I will just have to stop here and concentrate on the task then.
I believe that my Flatpress is quite ready. I did not customize much but will tidy up bit by bit later on. Anyway, I will be updating both as in Vox and Flatpress. Thus, I am proud to present the link as:
The new housemates are nice and easy going. We had spoken about cleanliness and tidiness yesternight and had come to a solution where everyone will take turns by week. Before this, we were accustomed to clean it when you mess it. Well, as long as everyone is happy with it, it’s good.
I played Need for Speed: Prostreet yesterday. In order to play the game smoothly, i need to disable or at least set all the display settings to low. The graphics are still acceptable but it would look great to enable all the settings. The control is hard and I believe it is targeted to gamers with steering wheels. I didn’t play much because most of the time, I was fiddling and testing the settings. It’s different from Need for Speed: Most Wanted where I can change the settings in-game. Thus, I had to exit to the main screen in order to change the display settings.
A lot of reviews are saying that Prostreet is boring because it’s only circuit racing; not like the previous versions where it’s all about street racing. However, watching the intro and messages displayed, I do believe that the purpose is to advise the people out there to race in a proper track and not street racing which endanger people’s life.
My sister is coming over this
weekend. I had asked her to buy me a 4GB flash drive while she was in Malaysia. I am
still not sure which model or brand she bought for me because i need to decide
which flash drive to use as my portable drive or as Vista’s
ReadyBoost feature. The current one that I am using is Sandisk Cruzer Micro
Skin 2GB which is small and light-weight but the 4GB one as described by my
sister before she bought it, was bulky, dark-colored Kingston. Anyway, I need
the space, not the look.
Today has been sad for me. I am having flu. Tasks are piling up. I am very weak in thinking when I am down with flu, yet I have not started some of the tasks which are needed to be done by this Friday. Anyway, I still try to be optimistic.
Yesterday, I installed Need for Speed: Prostreet but did not play it. The installation was smooth but I am aware that my system specification is at the minimum requirement. As I said before, Need for Speed: Carbon doesn’t interest me much as the gameplay is boring. I read some reviews on Need for Speed: Prostreet and the rating is not good either. I guess tonight I will see then.
I have been playing around with Flatpress and quite impress with the customization which I am able to modify. Well, I suppose other software-based blogs such as Wordpress, do the same or even better. Overall, Flatpress is quite easy to use and manage. So far, I had made some changes as follow:
- created a link diversion to another web address which has ‘myi4u’ in the web address
- created favicons. There are numerous websites which allows creation of favicons from images, if you googled for it. I found that this FavIcon from Pics website is quite useful
- changed the banner
- removed the coding that embeds the title
- change the width and height which display my banner
- change the width which display my postings
In addition to these, I am now uploading all my pictures to Flickr.com and my postings will be linked to Flickr.com instead of uploading to Vox or my own web server.
The days are getting longer. I am awake even before the alarm starts. However, I do prefer it to be like this compare to winter where the days are shorter and always wake up before the sunrise; and come out from the office to find that the sun has set.
As my lecturer said before, after we graduated and stepped into the working life, ‘couldn’t see the sunrise and couldn’t see the sunset.’ Well, that may be the case in Malaysia but not here I think.
It’s the beginning of March now. Like every other months, the beginning will always be bills paying period. Back in Malaysia, half of my salary will go disappear to bills and car loan on the first week of each month. As our sayings go, ‘Like a dragon at the beginning of the month, but a worm at the end of the month.’
Still, working in UK is quite different. My father always reminds us, siblings, to save at least one third of our salary. Thus, that is always my target for each month end since last December.
Well, well. I haven’t been posting anything these three days. After I have started this blog, I wondered whether I will stop after a few postings. And now, I have more than 60 posts and I believe that I will carry on and on. However, I am thinking about backups now. Thus, I have been working on it these days.
Previously, I have registered a free webspace at 110mb. It offers 5GB of space and monthly bandwidth of 30GB and best of all it’s free. There’s a function called 1-Click Application Installer which enables users to install ready-made forums, blogs, CMS and the likes into the webspace. However, most of the scripts require MySQL and to use it, the account needs to be upgraded and pay some fees.
I have since installed Flatpress which does not require MySQL. There isn’t any clear guide on the usage, themes and coding; even on its forums. Thus, I have been exploring it since Friday.
Soon, I will be moving my vox contents to 110mb as archives and looking at the possibilities of a total switch to 110mb. Anyway, migration will only come into place when I master Flatpress. But I believe that will be quite a long process. Hehehe … Furthermore, I can’t really bear to leave vox as I treat it as a net friends circle.
Last Saturday was my colleague’s birthday. On Friday, she brought some cakes for us and almost all the colleagues in our department gave her cards except me coz I had forgotten to buy. I felt quite embarrassed and thus, bought a belated birthday card for her on Saturday. I leave it on her table today since she is on leave.
It was quite a boring Saturday for me. I installed Midnight Club II and managed to play it smoothly as my computer specifications are far better than the previous one. However, I found that it is a boring game. I couldn’t imagine why I was having so much fun with the game previously. The control sucks and the car like Lego. I will have it uninstalled soon.
Instead, I watched X-Men : The
Movie and The Brave One. Both movies didn’t excite me much especially X-Men. I
have X-Men Trilogy and felt that I should watch from the first title rather
than jump straight to X-Men : The Last Stand which I never watched before.
Jodie Foster acting in The Brave One is good but the storyline is somewhat boring. It’s just someone who seeks for revenge after her fiancée was killed innocently.
And yesterday, Mee and I
watched Alvin
and the Chipmunks. It was fun to watch and we laugh out loud. I would say that
it was better than my favorite Garfield.
